Randall "Randy" Dawson

Randall “Randy” Dawson, of Groesbeck, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, at age 69.

Visitation will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Pavilion in the Fort Parker Cemetery, with Clantzy Ballard officiating.

Randy was born July 4, 1955, in Groesbeck to Dale Dawson and Maudie (Cargile) (Dawson) McClatchy. He was raised in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1973.

Randy was very smart and from his youth he enjoyed writing, including poetry, and had a deep love of music. He spent many hours walking around Groesbeck where he made friends, and later lived in Teague. After a stroke in his later years, Randy enjoyed many friendships and the care he received at Skilled Care of Mexia.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Dawson and Maudie McClatchy.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Donnie Sanders; brother and sister-in-law, James and Cecelia O’Neal. His nieces are Krystle Gandhi, Rachel Ballard, Shelby Sanders, and Heather O’Neal, and he has one nephew, Chad O’Neal; and a special cousin, Gary Cargile.
