Richard “Ricky” Herbert Ryan, Jr. of Groesbeck, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at age 75.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Fort Parker Memorial Park, with Pastor David Snow officiating.
Ricky was born July 9, 1944 in Marysville, California to Richard Herbert Ryan, Sr. and Mildred Roberts Ryan. He grew up all over Louisiana, and graduated from Johnsons Bayou, LA in 1963.
Ricky’s career in electrical work had him working all over Houston at HL&P power plants, until transferring to the HL&P power plant at Jewett. He was the electrical supervisor there from the beginning, from the construction phase through his retirement there in 1993.
At HL&P, he was a member of the program providing help for those in need in the community. He really liked to donate to the Wounded Warriors.
He also developed the Ryan Ranch, and enjoyed being involved with his cattle operation. Ricky was a devoted member of the NRA, and although he loved to shoot, he hated hunting.
Ricky had a strong Baptist faith, and attended Victory Baptist Church and later Bethel Baptist Church. He did stay active until the end.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Annabell Ryan Grey.
He is survived by his son, Richard Ryan, V and wife, Carol of Groesbeck; grandchildren, NYK of Fairbanks, Alaska, Meagan of Memphis, Tennessee, Hannah of Groesbeck, and Gwen of Groesbeck; Ashley of Crawford, Victoria of Huntsville, and Thomas of LaGrange.
