Ruby Jane Gorman, of Groesbeck, passed away at Waco on Friday, October 11, 2019, at age 89.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating. Burial will follow in Lenamon Family Cemetery near Groesbeck.
Pallbearers will be Kolton Gorman Batey (great grandson), Lindsey Beasley (great nephew), Gene Dusek (nephew-in-law), and Randy Martin (nephew-in-law.)
Ruby was born March 22, 1930 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Richard E. and Ora Ranah Ayles.
Ruby was united in marriage with Wallace Keith Gorman in Houston on June 24, 1948. They lived in Houston until moving back to his hometown of Groesbeck in 2004. She worked at Southwest Fertilizer in Houston from the late 60's to 1996. After they moved to Groesbeck, she was a constant helpmate to her husband in his work of building traps and cages and transporting them to Houston.
She was an awesome grandmother to Angela, and when her son Kolton was born in Oklahoma in 1994, Ruby Jane spent a week with her helping her care for the baby. She was also present when Angela's ultrasound on the second child showed it was a girl, and they immediately went out shopping for girl clothes for London. Kolton and London adored Mamaw Texas, as they called her. She was a very special part of all of their lives.
Her grandchildren and her nieces and nephews have many fond memories of Mamaw -Aunt Jane. The nieces loved to play at her house because she let them play in the dirt, saying they could always wash it off. She was always friendly to everyone and over the years took care of many, including he mother when she needed care, her sister, helped take care of her sister-in-law, carried food she had prepared to her brother Ray, taught Sunday school for countless years, and cooked for everyone. She could make ten different meal choices to please whatever anyone wanted, without ever complaining. Loving and taking care of others was what made her truly happy, and she was the sweetest person you could ever know. She made everyone feel so special, and she taught them the most valuable thing in the world -how to love.
Ruby had been living in Waco with her granddaughter following the death of Wallace earlier this year. Ruby and Wallace were preceded in death by their son, William Kenneth Gorman in 2012.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Angela “Angie” K. Gorman of Waco; great grandson, Kolton W. Gorman Batey of Castle Rock, Colorado; great granddaughter, London N. Gorman of Waco; and other extended family.
