Samuel Wayne “Sammy” Gill, Sr., of Eustace, TX, passed away at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, on Friday, November 3, 2023, at age 63.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., prior to the funeral services, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will begin in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with Pastor Gary Dawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Lost Prairie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Webb, Sammy Carroll, Don Cannon, Bubba Burt, Haley Gill and Darrel Miles. Honorary pallbearers will be David Gill and Chris Gill.
Sammy was born on September 12, 1960, to Harroll Jr. Gill and Naomi Jean (Whitley) Gill in Houston, where he grew up. As an adult, he worked in construction as a boilermaker, mostly in the Houston area.
Sammy was united in marriage with Cassie Carroll in September 1983 in Centerville (Leon Co.), TX. and they lived in Houston where he was employed, until moving to Eustace eight years ago. He was a man who never gave up through some of the difficult situations that arose in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Alexis (in 1998); brother, Daniel Anthony Gill (in 2022), and nephews, Timmy and Harroll Wayne.
Samuel is survived by his daughter, Angela Lynn and husband Tony of Normangee, son, Darrel and wife Nancy of Big Sandy, daughter Kristy of Eustace, son, Samuel II, of Eustace, and daughter, Haley of Eustace. He has 13 grandchildren: Bubba, Sissy, Hannah, Casey, Bobby, Adrianna, Amanda, Travis, Megan, Kristen, Ruth, Holly, and Viktoria; and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ruth Gill, Chris Gill, David Gill, and Katie Gill; and nieces, Sissie, Jennie, Kathryn and Christal, and nephews, Roy and Lil' David.
