Sandra Marie (Fowler) Wiley was born January 2, 1940, to Elmer “Cheesy” Fowler and Alma Eugenia Kay Fowler in Bremond, Texas. Sandra was raised alongside her brother William Elmer “Billy” Fowler in what she would lovingly refer to later in life as “the big woods.” It was there that her imagination was allowed to roam free, and it was there she found happiness throughout her life.
During one summer while Sandra was in high school, she worked in Groesbeck at a local restaurant. It was there that she met Oscar Joe Wiley and the two ended up finding something in the other that they each couldn’t live without and after a very short courtship they were married. Sandra and Oscar Joe’s newly formed union would not stay small for long, over the course of the next eight years they would welcome five children; Wade, Bobby, Kim, Carla and Kyle.
During their marriage there were moves from Huntsville, Texas to La Porte, Texas and finally back to Limestone County where they purchased a home in Thornton. Sandra’s hands were never idle for long; she worked many different jobs throughout her life. She was a seamstress, furniture upholsterer, caregiver at the Mexia State School, catering truck driver and ultimately, she went to college at the age of 50 and received a degree as a Registered Nurse. She continued in nursing and worked at several hospitals, nursing homes and prisons in this area until she finally retired.
Sandra was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren whom she loved with all that she had. She attended every sporting event or play that she could, her grandchildren meant the world to her.
On December 24th, 2022, Sandra Marie Wiley -“MeeMaw”- peacefully left this world for another and took with her a piece of each of our hearts, but thankfully she left a piece of hers with us.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents; Elmer and Alma Fowler, her husband, Oscar Joe Wiley, as well as three grandchildren; Jennifer Jo Meza Nickels, Danny Ray “Little Danny” Meza and Taylor Ross Wiley.
Sandra is survived by her children; son, William Wade Wiley of Groesbeck; son, Bobby Lane Wiley of Groesbeck; daughter, Kimberly Coker and husband Steve Coker of Bremond; daughter, Carla Rae Wiley of Waco; and son, Joseph Kyle Wiley and wife Shannon Wiley of Groesbeck; and her brother, William Elmer Fowler of Collierville, Tennessee. Sandra’s surviving grandchildren are Lane Wiley of Killeen; Cody Wiley of Buffalo; Scott Wiley of Thornton; Kristen Kennedy of Groesbeck; Ty Wiley of Austin; Klein Wiley of Granbury; and Rian Wiley of Groesbeck.
