Wanda Sue Pounders, of Teague, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at age 62.
The family will gather - with social distancing (of 6’-and limited to ten at a time to follow the Covid-19 guidelines) - in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 and during the day on Thursday, April 9, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Following cremation, her wishes for her cremains to be scattered at the beach will be observed by the family.
Wanda Sue was born July 6, 1957 in El Campo to Claude Cleve Pounders and Mildred Louise Pounders. She grew up in Oletha and graduated from Groesbeck High School in the Class of 1975.
Wanda Sue was married to Gene Young and although they lived several different places, they lived most of their life in Groesbeck, and he was the father of her children. Wanda Sue had moved to Teague in the past year.
Wanda Sue loved her family. She knew at all times where all of the children, grandchildren, and the many nieces and nephews were, and she loved to keep up with their lives by phone. She enjoyed fishing and camping and going to the beach, and this always included being with family.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and former husband Gene Young.
She is survived by her three children, Bradley Gene Young of Groesbeck, Kayla Sue Young of Hamilton, and Jesse Wayne Young of Groesbeck; three grandchildren, Madison Rivers Robbins, Kevin Ray Banda, and Kayden Chevy Bowden, all of Hamilton. Her siblings are Cynthia Kay Starkey of Abilene, Claude Cleve Pounders, Jr. and wife Sonya Pounders of Florida, and William Pounders and fiancée Deana Hyatt (who considered Wanda Sue her sister for the past seventeen years) of San Antonio. She leaves behind her eighteen nieces and nephews: Billy Pounders and fiancée Lety Valezquez, Danny Corely and fiancée Elizabeth Wollney, Chance Pounders, Clayton Pounders, Austin Pounders, Patrick Pounders, Josh Pounders, Debra Little and husband Josh Little, David Starkey and wife, Malinda Starkey, Cameron Ingram, Devonee Ingram, Jerrid Ingram, Samantha Pounders, and Christopher Pounders; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
