Heath, also called Hoopie from his youth, was born May 4, 1966, in Houston to William Howard Dunn and Carolyn Ann Davis Dunn. He grew up in Bremond and graduated from Bremond High in 1984.
Heath grew up working cattle and riding horses with his Dad and worked after high school cowboying, which included chasing bulls that got loose in town. He worked at GATX for a while, and then worked in the oil and gas fields all over Texas.
He loved to hunt and fish and play dominoes and enjoyed his friends. He raised horses and rode when he was off work. Heath had been battling diabetes for many years and was diagnosed with cancer in January 2022. He was blessed to have good friends Brandy and Wesley Hartley to see him through his final time of illness and provide for his care. Other caregivers, including Given Weathers, David Vandusen and Vicki Russell, and all others who helped, are greatly appreciated.
Heath was preceded in death by his father in 1997.
He is survived by his three daughters and their families: daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Stephen Jones of Kosse and their children, Trinity, Conner and Karigan Jones; daughter, Jessica Dunn of Bremond and her child, Trae Roberts; and Jennifer Dunn of Bremond and her children, Kaysen Luna and BrineLee Miller. Other survivors are his Mom, Carolyn Dunn of Clute; sisters, Anita Barclay of Clute, Audra and husband Dustin Coker of Bremond, Amanda and husband Brian Pellerin of Midlothian, and Angie and husband Chad Viator of Bremond; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Wesley and Brandy Hartley of Marquez. The family would also like to share their appreciation to his caregivers, Given Weathers, David Vandusen and Vicki Russell as well as all those that visited him.
