Kent Wilson

Kent Wilson

Manager, Funeral Director/Embalmer

One of the finest decisions Terry Don says he has made was in hiring Kent Wilson to come to work for the Funeral Home and encouraging his interest. During his high school years, Kent worked for R.W. King Appliances in Groesbeck. Kent had developed an interest in the funeral service business after seeing first-hand how Terry Don Roach helped his grandmother, Elizabeth, upon the death of her husband Floyd. He decided then he would like to work in a profession where he could provide such outstanding and notable service to others, as Terry Don had done for his family. Kent graduated from Groesbeck High School in 2003 and after that summer, he enrolled in the Dallas Institute of Funeral Services in Dallas. He worked as an apprentice, coming back to Groesbeck on weekends for training under Terry Don, until he graduated with his Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in November 2005. He was then employed by Groesbeck Funeral Home, where he received excellent on-the-job experience. He is equally as dedicated as Terry Don Roach had been for decades in serving the families using Groesbeck Funeral Home, with natural compassion and kindness for everyone.

Kent was married to Jessica (Funderburk) Wilson on September 21, 2019 and step-dad to her son, Weston James Wallace and they welcomed the arrival of Wyatt Joseph Wilson on September 3, 2020. Kent is the son of Matt and Sharon Wilson of Groesbeck, and the grandson of Elizabeth Swick and the late Floyd Swick, the late Charles and Tinnie Wilson of Groesbeck. He has one sister, Blair Wilson Davison, APRN, FNP-C and husband Dustin, and also many other family and innumerable friends in the area. Kent also has been affiliated with Groesbeck ISD Transportation Department since 2008, Limestone Medical Center Board of Directors and Fort Parker Memorial Park Board of Directors. After working hours, he might be found checking his cattle, on his ATV, or at Lake Limestone.

Having lived in Groesbeck all his life, he has a vast knowledge of the people and the location of rural Limestone County residences when needed in emergencies. He has a close working relationship with law enforcement and medical personnel, which is essential in emergencies and has always handled all matters in a professional manner.

In addition to funerals, Kent is also available to assist the public with Pre-Need planning of funerals, as a licensed agent for Funeral Directors Life Insurance Company (FDLIC) of Abilene. He also is an agent for Riley-Gardner Memorial Service Company (of Hamilton) and will be delighted to assist anyone in the purchase of a memorable marker or plaques for gifts and donations. Please feel free to contact Groesbeck Funeral Home at 254-729-2525 for any assistance they can offer in funerals or memorials for loved ones.
